The Allegan County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system is a single tier Advanced Life Support (ALS) system supplemented in certain townships with fire department (Basic Life Support (BLS) first responders. Serving a population of approximately 121,000, the EMS system is made up of four Advanced Life Support ambulance services covering designated areas of the county and 12 first responder agencies provided through fire departments. The Allegan County Medical Control Authority Incorporated (ACMCI) is the agency responsible for coordinating and overseeing the EMS system and is physically housed within Western Michigan University School of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine.)
